My BIG Personal Announcement
For the rest of this year, I’m doing something I never thought I’d get the chance to do…
Something I’ve fantasized about for years but couldn’t figure out how to make possible…
Something that truly feels like a dream come true…
For the rest of this year, I am taking a sabbatical.
(Even just typing that gave me a little thrill, like the sparkles of light on top of summer water)
I started planning this over a year ago. I just had such a strong feeling that the right timing was coming.
Then hurricane Helene hit last September. I lost the apothecary and months of work, and I thought there was no way this vision could still come to life…
But here I am.
After an unbelievable about of grace and work and dedication and prayer, I’m about to take the rest of the year off to focus on a soul project that’s been stirring within me for the last six years—I’m finally writing my next book.
(I’ve been quiet about this new book so far, but I’m excited to pop back in here to share a few exclusive mid-sabbatical updates with you as I wade in…)
As I’ve been preparing for this sabbatical, I’ve been thinking so much about how we ALL need these sacred breaks. How our bodies were designed for these kinds of deep-time re-orientations where we step away from our normal routines and step into a season of soul.
So, as I’ve been preparing for my sabbatical, I’ve also been taking notes…
Are you curious about taking a sabbatical in your own life?
My new podcast episode is all about how to create this soul-led opportunity for yourself.
- How you know you need a sabbatical
- Logistics (financial, social, soulful) of how to take one!
- How living through a disaster changed me
- My story of realizing what I was willing to risk
- Why sabbaticals will rewire your existence
- What to do during a mid-project (or sabbatical) slump
Every person’s sabbatical will look different…but here’s what my sabbatical looks like for me.
I’m stepping away from all social media, emails, promotion, course creation, team meetings and strategizing.
I WILL however still be releasing weekly podcasts over on Remember Why You Are Here!
(I can’t tell you how delighted I am that this is happening.)
We’ll be popping into your inbox with those announcements and my heartfelt team will be continuing to run things behind the scenes, tending the inbox, answering questions in our courses, and making sure all our wonderful community here is cared for.
Because you are truly at the heart of everything—why I can do this, why it matters, why I’m here. So thank you.
In my mind’s eye, I keep seeing a barge, laden with flowers. There are big, quartz-pink dahlias and bright orange pops of marigolds, zinnias and sunflowers. There are the fuchsia fireworks of bee balm and crowns made of fragrant roses, tulsi and lavender.
The barge is coming to shore.
It’s been waiting for me.
And it’s been waiting for you as well.
This floating resting place, this flower palace that was designed just for you, is here to carry you into the next phase of your life.
You just have to be willing to step from the shore. To lift your feet over the cerulean water and place both soles—trusting and bare—on the deck.
You have to be willing to sit down, among the water, among the flowers, among the unknown, and let yourself be carried.
You must be willing to allow yourself to be carried into what comes next.
And so we step together, over the water, into the flowers, into whatever it is that lays, gently, gently downstream.
I will see you on the other side.
