What is Intuition?
All my life I’ve heard people talk about intuition without going deeply into what it truly is. In this video I talk about intuition from a place of groundedness, tangibility, and human history, with exercises to start accessing it yourself.
Now, I’d love to hear from you. Leave a reply below to let me know how this jives with what you feel or know about intuition. What did you think about this idea of intuition when you were growing up? I’d love to hear about your experience.
I’ve always had 2 forms of intuition available to me since I was a child. Knowing and feeling. I’ve experienced them far more in relationship to people than to the natural world.
Hi Debbie! Thank you so much for being here and for sharing about your connection with intuition. How wonderful that you felt this connection since you were a child. We wish you sweet adventures in connecting deeper with the natural world!
I’ve been playing with intuition more closely recently after some serious self-exploration. But really, I’ve been playing with intuition my entire life. After listening to this first video, I wanted to specifically see if I could connect by just asking as you suggest (I had doubt). Ask for a sign, a symbol. I took my regular walk into the woods and saw many things but didn’t realize the actual symbol until I was out of the woods and thinking about what symbol vs ‘thing’ I saw. I got the sign. And once I realized the symbol I saw it my entire walk home. Yes! Connected. My symbol is a triangle.
Playing with intuition sounds like the best approach! I love how intuition can weave its way through our lives, The triangle feels like a powerful symbol to connect with. Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment of connection with us. Wishing you continued insight and alignment on your intuitive journey!
I used to think intuition was bogus….b/c mine always seemed to steer me wrong. Over time I realized I was actually not listening to my intuition, I was instead listening to the chatter. The more grounded I am in the present and the quieter I allow myself to be, the stronger my intuition is & the easier it is to confidently follow it, although it’s still a process.
Nothing came to me immediately when I asked for my sign, but after closing my eyes & taking a couple breaths on the beach….yellow flowers started popping into my vision. I asked to narrow it down…yellow daisies & dahlias it is 🙂
*Thank you* for sharing the evolution of your journey Patty! this will be an invaluable encouragement to so many folks here. The doubt is so common! As is the difficulty, initially, in discerning our intuition from our anxiety. It certainly takes practice to come to recognize the difference, but this is a beautiful example of the beauty that can unfold from that still, quiet knowing. Thank you for being here, and warmest wishes for the blooming of these flowers! 🌼
Thank you! I have different animal or earth signs for different things. A bee showing up often makes me tune in with my daughter. She is my honey bee! I’m looking forward to finding my ‘this direction’ sign.
I adore that bee is your daughter’s sign, Nicole—so sweet 🥰 And I’m so glad that you mention this, about how different signs can be working in different ways for you—that feels like such a helpful frame to live in this space as we’re fine-tuning these processes! We’d love to hear what comes forward as your affirming/directional sign
I’ve been having some resistance around getting in my own way. So, when Asia asked to come up with a sign from nature to be a symbol of the earth listening, I had this crazy dialogue in my head. First I thought,” rabbit!” No, that’s cheating. I live in the Conejo Valley (Rabbit in Spanish) I see bunnies all the time. Then, as I was working on designing a logo for my business, I thought dragonfly, but the only dragonflies I see are the ones I’m creating. So in frustration, I decided not to force this issue and then something amazing happened. Day one- I read an article about rose water being healing for your micro biome in the gut and skin. Next day, my husband comes home from the dog park with a bottle of expensive rose perfume from Turkey that was given as a gift to an older woman who thought I might enjoy it because she doesn’t wear perfume. And this morning as I was scrolling on social media, I saw this quote by Paolo Coelho, “A rose dreams of enjoying the company of bees, but none appears. The sun asks: ‘Aren’t you tired of waiting?’ ‘Yes answers the rose,’but if I close my petals, I will wither and die.’ I actually laughed out loud and I think I have been given my symbol. The picture included with the quote was a beautiful blossoming pink rose.
Oh my goodness, I was having the same dilemma! I kept thinking of things I see often around here. The chickadees, the crows, squirrels…I’ll just wait and see if something comes up like yours did!
This is so wonderful Susan!! This feels like both a sign presenting itself to you, and possibly a plant ally coming in to work with you as well—so special! Rose is a darling among our team ☺️ Thank you so much for sharing the magic with us. We would love to hear where your sign takes you <3
Thank you for pointing out the idea of a rose being a pant ally. I read the description of rose essence in the apothecary and it was so spot on with the things I’ve been dealing with for several years now and when it talked about healing the mother line, I burst into tears. My grandmother and my mother both died of uterine cancer at age 69 and I believe that part of my work here is to break that pattern for me, and my daughter.
What a powerful unfolding, Susan—thank you so much for sharing it with us here. Asia has written before about “truth tears,” and this certainly sounds like one of those moments—when your heart confirmed the bigness of what was coming forward for you there. One thing that comes up for me in hearing your story is how rose can be such a nurturing comforter, and the power of that kind of medicine for someone (especially in the midst of this kind of journey) whose mother can’t be present for them in the way they once were ❤️ I’m so glad that reflection resonated with your experience. Healing illness has been a truly pivotal part of Asia’s calling to the green world and intuitive medicine.
This definitely resonates with me! The Red Tail Hawk has always been my sign when I’m looking for confirmation in an area of my life. Sometimes she shows up when I’m not looking and it always makes sense! I’ve relied on an inner sense of knowing my whole life and I look forward to learning more in your next videos. Thank you so much!
Hey Carolyn! How cool that you’ve been doing this *intuitively* all along 😊 The Red Tail Hawk is a beautiful sign. We’re so glad to have you here (and I’m looking forward to what’s next too!) In welcome, Shannon
I think that I have always trusted my intuition to guide me since I was a young girl. I love your observation that it guides us like our North Star. However it is only recently that I have learnt to be more in touch with my body and my connection to Mother Earth. This has been a steep learning curve for me and I am delighted to share that the Fox revealed itself to me to be my personal guide to help me stay on track.
Hey Sarah, thank you for being here and sharing this with us—I love knowing where this experience is landing in your wider journey. It feels so meaningful that fox came forward as an ally and a guide for you through the chapter of “rooting” that you’ve been opening to. What a beautiful process to be engaged with alongside the course!
We would love to hear what unfolds for you through the conversation <3
Dear Asia,
Thank you for your wisdom and how you so gracefully share it! I am inspired to listen more deeply to the web of life, and to consciously make time and space for active listening and attention! x nakyta
Hey Nakyta! What a beautiful takeaway from this first class <3 I am feeling all the richness that can be perceived (and the expansion of perception itself!) from that space of active listening. Thank you for sharing this opening and reminder with us—I'm going to take it with me into my day!
I loved this. This work is so needed in the world and I am so deeply grateful for all that you create. Please know it makes a difference. Your description reminded me of Michael Meade’s definition of genius – a sense that we are standing next to something larger than ourselves. Is our intuition our genius? A beautiful question that came from listening to this. Deep bows and happy dances. x
Hey Mari! I love this question, and the image it presents through Meade’s definition. My heart wants to say, “Yes!”
So glad to be on this journey with you—thank you for the magic you’ve brought to it for all of us!
I think my gut has been my intuition for a long time. Once I felt water over me then something said go home. I thought that was strange, then it happened a few minutes later only more water and again go home. I walked into my boss’s office and said I think something is wrong at my house. I went home and someone had turned my outdoor faucet full force. I handled situation and went back to work. My boss thought I was crazy. From that day on, I pay close attention to what the universe is saying.
Hi Debbie, and welcome! Wow, what a powerful example of the mysterious, and yet completely valuable, way intuition can work in our lives <3 It makes me wonder about all the times the more subtle, and maybe less verifiable hunches, have been doing their quiet guidance! That's wonderful that you trusted yourself enough to heed the call; we believe that our world truly needs folks to keep going against the grain in this way, and bring the deep wisdom of our diverse ways of knowing back into the fold.
Thank you for sharing and for being a part of this (and the wider) journey with us! We're honored to be a part of this next chapter with you.
